Your Humidor; making it happen
Our humidors are made to your specifications, with the materials you want to see surrounding your instrument. The humidors displayed on this site are not offered ‘models’, but rather examples of what is possible. No two cabinets are the same, and the examples shown, cannot necessarily be exact duplicates.
It is so easy today to communicate not only aurally, but visually as well. Makes it easy for us to meet, for you to show me your surroundings, your tastes, the colours and woods you appreciate, etc.. We try to leave the beauty of the wood shine in it’s natural state as much as possible, so colour and hues can vary, sometimes dramatically, from one board to another. Planks chosen to build your cabinet, will then obviously be picked accordingly. Once I know what you are looking for, I can find samples for types of wood, colours and finishes etc. It is easy to show drawings and to tailor the process so we are all on the same page before starting.
Once we’ve decided on those choices, the process begins by securing your build in the queue. It takes close to a month to build a cabinet, as the lumber is given opportunity to ‘settle’, at various times, during the cutting, re-sawing and machining processes. More than one cabinet is being built at once however, so the time it takes to receive your humidor from when ordered, is dependent on busyness of the shop at the time. Average delivery is 4 to 6 months, presently.
Your space is reserved with a deposit of one-third the cost of the build, through Visa, MasterCard or e-transfer, with the remaining balance due before shipping. Since your cabinet is custom made, returns are not possible, with the exception of defective components or initial moving damage. In the event that an order needs to be cancelled at anytime once started, the deposit is non-refundable.
If the humidor is to be shipped, it is done at this time through U.P.S. special freight, fully insured. The unit is surrounded by two inches of foam on all six sides. This then becomes the template around which a custom crate is built with 12mm Baltic Birch plywood with reinforced edging. Your case will arrive to you undamaged, guaranteed! Please note that two people are needed to uncrate the humidor.
